The Documentary Process
First: Consultation
We’ll meet in person or over the phone where I will answer all of your questions. If you are ready to proceed, we’ll schedule the interview time and location.
I’ll need to know:
Will you or a family member(s) be the interview subject?
How many family members will be interviewed?
Will I be recording in your home or my studio?
How long would like the final documentary to be?
Would you like to incorporate still images and previously recorded video?
What do you want to do with the final documentary?
Are there aspects of your life that you want to focus on (or not mention at all)?
How would you like the final documentary delivered?
Second: The Interview
If we are filming at a location other than my studio, I will need 30-45 minutes to set up my equipment. The interview will last an hour. If you’d like more time, we will schedule a second session. The initial interview frequently helps client’s recall memories they haven’t thought of in years. I am happy to come back!
Third: Editing
Your interview will look and sound amazing. I will carefully review all of interview responses, remove my voice from the interview footage, add titles and introduction music. My current delivery time is two weeks after the initial interview.
